Thanks for observing!
“We branched away from our Ferrari staff with Caesar to try out just a small bit of getting into NASCAR, and assessing that for next year,” clarifies Ronnie Vogel, who co-founded the group with Lapo Elkann, that the grandson of Italian industrialist Gianni Agnelli and brother of present Fiat Chrysler president John Elkann.
“It’s precisely the exact same group, same driver, same patrons –we will see how we perform in this particular race, and when we conduct a complete year as our staff in NASCAR next year”
For Squadra Corse Garage Italia’s initial foray to the oval racetrack, they are swapping out the mid-engine Ferrari 488 GT3 racecar to get a NASCAR inventory Chevy Camaro.
Outfitted using a naturally aspirated 710-horsepower Earnhart/Childress Racing engine, the brand new Alpha Prime MAXIM Hublot JAJA Tequila Camaro will typical 180 miles as it runs round the Homestead oval, attaining rates over 200 mph)
“Winning that the Ferrari show, I was quite excited about that since it was our first year out as a group,” states Bacarella. “It’s difficult to find the formula to work great with everyone collectively, two brand new drivers using a completely new team.
“But our formulation together with all the team leader, we all knew each other, our driving fashion involving me and Martin were amazing, and we only dominated our course. You could not ask for anything better.”
Of course racing a street program, as Bacarella failed at the Ferrari 488 GT3, is worlds apart in the absurd rates of an oval track, but the American driver is prepared for the battles of this Xfinity Race Series.
“It’s just two distinct sorts of management of the automobile, it’s very hard — it is similar to the difference between roller skating and ice skating,” clarifies Bacarella.
“With NASCAR it is all momentum in which you keep up the momentum, whereas street racing you are stopping-going-stopping-going. It’s really a day and night difference.”
The Florida-born driver has gained over 160 races along with many championships during his career, promising success in number of different string, so he’s undergone the rigors of several diverse schools of motorsports. But nevertheless, Bacarella is reluctant to disclose which style he favors.
“That’s a hint question,” he laughs. “I love street racing, it is more enjoyable since I’m driving the vehicle. But NASCAR is much more exciting because of the fact that it is the point you are at–it is more of a Super Bowl, you understand what I mean? The presence, both the fans and everything, it is a way larger occasion.”
So Bacarella and Squadra Corse Garage Italia’s aim is triumph Homestead on Saturday, and then next year run the entire NASCAR Xfinity series. But do not believe Vogel, Elkann and business are quitting there. The group, brimming with current achievement, is setting its sights on very top.
“Who knows, perhaps we leap head-first to the Monster Energy show next season,” states Vogel, obviously convinced in his team’s chances. “It’s certainly a chance. We’re also assessing running in the 24 Hours at Daytona.”
